This is a little thought about my aunt. This is not really about love and yet it is. On valentines day my aunt was admitted to the hospital because of ever-increasing problems with her heart. Her doctor said it was time to put her on the transplant list. See how quickly life goes from living, to on a waiting list to continue living! She has an uncommon blood type so the wait may be a long one. Hopefully not too long.
We, her loved ones hope the heart will arrive soon. Her amazing supportive husband is at her side every moment that he is not working or taking care of the two of three daughters that still need “parenting”. We love her, we want to receive a “new heart”. This is not the first time we have waited for a heart in our family. For many years ago my mothers sister was one of the first heart transplants to be done. Exciting for the receiver and the family around them.
A thought to the giver of a heart. Thank you. To the family that looses a loved one and allows a stranger to keep living – thank you. Such little words, are there other words that really express the gratitude we feel at receiving the gift of extended life? And to the amazing doctors and nurses that make it all possible, again thank you.
Well the wait for the heart continues. Imagine that, a real live beating heart to continue the gift of life. Not bad, not bad at all.
